Project Description
Building of the brand new state-of-the-art Police Headquarters at 100 Angas Street has begun. Site works and preliminary construction of the $100 million project is well underway and on schedule for completion by the end of 2011. This building is the biggest police-building project in South Australia’s history to date. It will have a five-star energy rating, and cater for the ever-increasing demands of sophisticated policing operations.
The 40 metre high building will provide 18,000m2 of efficient, modern Green 5-star office accommodation for more than 1000 staff over 9 floors.
The proposed design incorporates meeting spaces and a café on the ground floor, providing access to an underground car park. SAPOL sections to be based at the new hub include the Executive, Firearms, Records, police prosecutors, Anti Corruption and Sex Crimes Investigation Branch.
Services Description
With Greenstar / NABERS commitments the mechnaical services system has a particular emphasys on energy efficiency. The design is based on chilled and heating water systems using passive chilled beam technology. This is a system that Westside is now very familiar with having delivered a number of projects successfully using both passive and active chilled beams. Interfaced with and controlled by a state of the art Building Management System (BMS) there are high efficiency chillers and boilers, a series of heat reclaim systems and outside air dehumidification.
Project Data
Due for completion in December 2011. Mechanical Services value approximately $11mil.
Project Description
T
he new Hills Industries headquarters is part of a 28 million dollar development by the Mossop Group on Port Road, Hindmarsh. The precinct includes a new council library, multi level car park, and a beautifully renovated old church building fitted out as new offices for the Mossop Group. A third building consisting of 2,100 square meters of offices will commence shortly. The Hills Industries building is a 3 story, 3,800 square metre modern office facility which has been designed to achieve a 5 Star Greenstar rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
System Description
The mechanical services design incorporates the energy efficiencies required to achieve a 5 star energy rating. The cooling system is powered by 2, air cooled, high efficiency, magnetic bearing chillers. Hot water generation is provided by 2 gas fired hot water boilers. This equipment, together with the water services pumps are located in a roof top thermal plant area.
Active chilled beam technology has been incorporated on the occupied floors serving the external perimeter zones of each floor. A separate plant room on every level houses individual zone air handling units. The internal zones are served by variable air volume (VAV) boxes and speed controlled supply air fans. A computerized Building Management System (BMS) using current direct digital control technology is provided to control and monitor the mechanical and electrical services systems.
Project Data
Project completion is due July, 2011. Mechanical services value approx $2.6 mil
Project Description
Named due to their distinctive shapes this development consists of two ten story buildings going up side be side. Completed in December 2009 this major city structure is a stand out project for Adelaide's south end. The 'Edge' building is a 5 star Greenstar rated building. Apart from quality office space there is also multi level car parking and ground floor retail / cafe outlets.
Services Description
Both buildings are served by Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning systems delivering conditioed air to the occupied spaces. Offering maximum flexbility to tenants we have ducted, zoned fancoils on the floors with multi-module outdoor units located on the roofs. The a/c systems are suplemented with smoke spill, stair pressurization, general exhausts and a computerized Building Management System (BMS).
Project Data:
Completed in stages in December 2009 & February 2010. Mechanical Services base building value $4.5mil
Project Description
The old 'SGIC Building' was a bit of an icon for Adelaide and well overdue for a major refurbishment. Ideally located on the western fringe of Victoria Square the building works included a total route of the internal floor and plant rooms areas to provide a fresh start including all ceilings, windows, flooring and partitions. The building now houses national, consulting and accounting companies and the governments Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure (DTEI).
Services Description
Leaving only the remote thermal plant room and risers everthing else was stripped from the building. The mechanical services scope for base building included supply and installation of new floor by floor air handlers and variable air volume (VAV) air distribution systems with conditions provided by chilled and heating water coils. Supplementary systems and purpose modifications were undertaken to suit specific tenant needs on each floor.
Project Data: Completed in September, 2008. Final Mechanical Services value $2.6mil
Project Description
Premium A Grade office tower of some 31,000m net lettable area. Comprising of basement car parking, ground floor retail and 21 upper levels of office space. City Central has committed to provide a new benchmark in Adelaide CBD commercial office space by being South Australia 's first “Australian Excellence” (5Star) Green rated building, incorporating a 5 star AGBR (Australian Greenhouse Building Rating)
Services Description
Placing into Maintenance water cooled chillers, chilled water pumps, cooling towers, plate heat exchangers, roof mounted gas fired forced draught heating hot water boilers, heating hot water pumps, primary condenser water pumps, outside air dehumidification air handling units and passive chilled beams. Sheet metal duct exhaust and smoke spill systems all interfaced and controlled by BMS (Building Management System)
Project Data
Completed November 2006 , Final Mechanical Services cost $13m

Project Description
Tower 2 was the second project to proceed in the Caversham Properties / Aspen Group 6 billion dollar ‘City Central' development bound by King William, Pirie, Franklin and Bentham streets in the city. Replacing the old Advertiser building it is a state of the art, 5 star rated, Greenstar, 14 story office tower. In June 2010 it was the second Adelaide building to achieve "As Constructed" 5 star Greenstar certification.
Services Description
Westside was appointed at the conception stage of this project to assist the design team in practical and budgetary terms. The 5 star design rating was achieved using a passive chilled beam cooling system served by high efficiency chillers with the mechanical services systems controlled by a modern Building Management System. Westside worked closely with the building participants over the extended Greenstar warranty period to assist in achieving NABERS as constructed energy certification.
Project Data
Completed January 2008. Mechanical Services value approx $4.5m

New seven storey office building with underground car park at Light Square in the city incorporating integrated tenancy fitouts with general office areas, training / meeting rooms, work place cafes, dedicated communications room and banking chamber on the ground floor for the Australian Central Credit Union.
Services Description
Roof mounted air cooled chillers supply chilled water to air handling units in plantrooms on each level. The perimeter zone on each floor is serviced by active chilled beam induction units fed from a tertiary chilled water loop. Internal zones are serviced via supply air infuser boxes fed conditioned air from the air handlers complimented by supplementary chilled water fan coil units. Boilers located in the roof plantroom supply heating water to the air handling units. Ducted exhaust and outside air systems are installed to serve the basement carpark, various plant and designated rooms. Reverse cycle split systems air condition the Lift Motor Room, ATM, ground floor training rooms and computer room. A computerised Building Management System (BMS) has been installed to automatically control this building.
